Neunkirchen am Sand is a town in the Nrnberger Land district, in Bavaria, Germany. It is situated on the Rednitz river, 10 km southwest of Lauf an der Pegnitz, and 20 km northeast of Nuremberg.
The name Neunkirchen am Sand means “New Church on the Sand”. The town was first mentioned in 1295. It was granted market rights in 1335 and city rights in 1354. Neunkirchen am Sand was a member of the Hanseatic League from 1381 to 1502.
